We are starting a new block of the month for 2018. I designed it as a calendar quilt with twelve different snow globes. The theme will be the Colorado Outdoors. Each month will have a different theme. We are starting today with our January Snow Globe “Winter Wonderland. All patterns will be available for free for one Month. Once the month is over the only way to get the pattern is to purchase it from us. Kits are available now.
You can either put all the blocks together into a quilt or make individual wall hangings for each month. The future blocks will be available on the first Wednesday of the month. Unfortunately I have been sick with since just after Christmas so I am behind already and it is only the 10th day of the New Year. Yikes.
All of these blocks will be applique. You can use any method you like to applique the blocks and use any type of fabrics. I originally made a snow globe block out of wool with the Denver Skyline for the “Row by Row Wooly” in 2016. I have been thinking about making more ever since. So today is the day.
I plan on making two snow globes each month. The first one I used wool for the appliques. I am going to making small quilts to put on a stand. I appliqued the wool onto flannel to make it a little lighter weight. The second snow globe I am using all cotton and plan on making a quilt with all twelve-snow globes. This Months pattern is very easy I hope you will add your own tough with embroidery or embellishments.
I will have another post on how I prepare my appliques for hand applique on Saturday. I enjoy hand applique and turn my edges over using freezer paper, liquid starch and a small brush.
Now I am off to stich my snow globe. I hope you enjoy the snow globes. You can find the pattern here.
Happy Quilting Alison
