Today is the first day of “Row by Row”. What is Row by Row? Since 2011, thousands of custom quilts created ‘row by row‘ by avid quilters who love travel and the thrill of collecting. This years theme is “Sew Musical.” Quilt shops from around the world have designed their own row. People can go to the shop and pick up a free pattern or buy a kit. Sorry no order online until November 1, 2018.
When I think of music in Colorado I think of Red Rocks Amphitheatre. So that is how I came up with idea of a quilt show at Red Rocks. How fun it would be if there were a real quilt show and have a women playing the piano.
There is also a program designed for kids call “Row by Row Jr” Kids can come in a pick up a free pattern or buy a kit for a row designed specifically for them. If adults want the row, they have to buy the kit. I made two of the kid rows.
The first on is a the Guitar. The kids rows have both pieced elements with a small amount of applique. The second row I made for the Row by Row Jr is the Piano Keys.
We put everything the kids need to sew these rows in our kits except the thread. The kit includes: pattern, fabrics and fusible web ( steam a seam.) We hope that adults will help with cutting and sewing depending on the age of the kids.
I hope you enjoy our rows. Next week I will demo how I put my row together from start to finish.
