Everyone has there favorite notion I was recently at at quilting retreat with 20 other quilters I and asked them what is your favorite notion. This is second blog post. Click here if you would like to read the first article.
Debbie Outlaw, Moda Fabrics, must have Auriful thread, Block Lock rulers and a leather thimble by Considine Creations. The thimble comes in three sizes, small, medium, and large. tried the thimble over the weekend while working on a hand applique project my “Dresden Neighborhood” and really like how it fit and felt on my finger.
Barbara Groves, a fabric and pattern designer “Me and My Sister Design”. Her favorite notion is the new Endurance Blade by Olfa. She used it at the retreat and loved it. It cuts twice as longs as a regular blade. You can follow her instagram account: @meandmysisterdesign
Mary Jacobson, fabric and pattern designer and the other half of “Me and My Sister Design” likes the mini iron. It does not take up a lot of space on her sewing table and when she is chain piecing it great. Once she starts putting rows together she does use a steam iron and an ironing board.
Elizabeth Beese, pattern designer loves the “Sew it together Bag.” It can hold all your little gadgets as well as your rotary cutter and blades. She also likes to have Hors d’oeuvre skewers in her bag. This are a larger than a toothpick. She uses them for turning project inside out and you can also use it as a stiletto.
Jody Sander Editor of American Patchwork and Quilting likes the Sewline Fabric Glue Pen for English Paper Piecing and uses the Clover Needles Threader.
Debbi Duckworth, long time quilter and retired from Moda. She loves the embroidery hoop by French General, with #24 needles from Primitive gatherings, and Auriful 12 weight thread. You can use 12-weight thread in your machine or by hand.
Sarah Huechteman, Longarm Quilter likes the Clearly Perfect Angle because you don’t have to mark your fabrics when making half square triangles. Sarah also always brings her own sewing table by Sew Ezi. You can find out more from their website seweezi.com
I will have the third and final article about notions next Tueaday. Hope you try some of these notions.
